Setting a Temp Basal

Device: MiniMed™ 670G insulin pump (MMT-1780K)

The Temporary Basal Rate feature lets you immediately increase or decrease your basal insulin for the period of time (duration) that you set. It is often used for exercise and sick days. A Temp Basal can be set in either Percent (delivers a percent of the current basal rate) or by Rate (delivers the amount that you enter).

To set a Temp Basal:

1. From the Home screen, press Select.

2. Select Basal.

3. Select Temp Basal.

4. Press Up to set duration and press Select.

5. Select Next.

6. Select Percent.

Select Percent screen

7. Press Up or Down to enter the percent of current basal rate desired and press Select. If you choose to use Rate, select Type, and you can then enter the U/hr desired.

8. Select Begin.

The Home screen displays a Temp Basal banner to indicate that you have a Temp Basal active. When the Temp Basal is complete, the basal will automatically return to the regularly programmed basal rate.
