Who is Lenny?
Lenny® the Lion is an Ambassador for children’s diabetes education.
Lenny was diagnosed with diabetes when he was young and is an insulin pump user. When he was diagnosed, he didn’t know anything about it. But the more he learned about diabetes, the better he was able to live his life just like other cubs.
Whether you are very young or a teenager, Lenny can help you learn about diabetes, how to live with diabetes, and how to talk to other people about your diabetes.
As an Ambassador, Lenny is one busy lion! He loves traveling all over the U.S. meeting cubs just like you, whether at diabetes camps, doctors’ offices, or JDRF and ADA walks.

What is insulin sensitivity factor?
Your insulin sensitivity is the amount that your blood glucose (BG) level is reduced by one unit of insulin. The insulin sensitivity factor setting is used to calculate correction bolus amounts.
Important: Consult with your healthcare professional to determine your insulin sensitivity.
What is interstitial fluid?
Interstitial fluid is the fluid that surrounds the cells in the body. Glucose travels between your blood vessels into the fluid.
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) is a monitoring tool that uses a glucose sensor placed below the skin to continuously measure the amount of glucose in your interstitial fluid.
Sensor glucose (SG) refers to glucose (sugar) that is present in the interstitial fluid and is measured by a glucose sensor.
What is a C-peptide test?
A C-peptide test is a blood test that indicates whether insulin is being produced by the pancreas.
This test is used to determine how well a person’s pancreas is making insulin by measuring how much C-peptide is in the blood. While this test isn’t often used to diagnose diabetes, it does give doctors a way to understand how to treat diabetes based on how well the pancreas is working.
For more information related to diagnosing type 1 diabetes and type 2 diabetes, visit our website.
Can I wear my pump during an MRI, X-ray, CT scan, or other exposure to radiation?
No, and this applies not only for MRIs, but also if you are going to have an X-ray, MRI, diathermy treatment, CT scan, or other type of exposure to radiation: Take OFF your pump, sensor, transmitter, meter, and remote control before entering a room containing any of these pieces of equipment. The nearby magnetic fields and radiation can render your devices nonfunctional or damage the part of the pump that regulates insulin delivery, possibly resulting in over-delivery which can cause severe hypoglycemia.
If your pump is inadvertently exposed to a magnetic field, discontinue use and contact our 24-hour Technical Support team at 1-800-646-4633 (toll-free) and select option 1 for further assistance.
Do not use pump cases that have a magnetic clasp. Exposure to a magnetic clasp may interfere with the motor inside the pump. Review additional information about equipment interference.
