New year, refreshed habits
It’s New Year’s resolution season and it’s easy to get caught up in big lofty goals. While it can feel overwhelming, here are a few simple diabetes-related goals that are easy to conquer and help kick off a productive year!
Clean start with diabetes supplies
While cleaning out all the closets in the house may be overambitious, you can start small with your diabetes supplies. First things first, check dates for expired products and rotate the oldest to the front for use ASAP. Then, place an order for anything that might be expired.
Next, send your doctor an email for an updated prescription for backup plan treatments for emergencies, like long-acting insulin and syringes, that may have expired in the last year.

Are your scheduled orders still meeting your needs? Check to see if you need to increase your quantity or add other diabetes supplies to the schedule. Explore our tapes and prep wipes selection! You may want to add those to your recurring order to help keep your CGM sensors secure.
The last maintenance to do on your account is to double-check your consents and preferences to ensure you are receiving all the information from Medtronic. If you haven’t done so already, consider signing up for My Insights — personalized emails to help keep you motivated all year long!
In sync with CareLink™
Are you syncing to CareLink™ regularly? Open your MiniMed™ Mobile app to enable your sync setting. A good practice is to sync your pump overnight.
Now take a minute and review patterns in your data. Is there a time of day that adding a quick 15-minute walk might help your glucose levels? If so, set a calendar reminder to try to move during that time.
Care for your pump
Taking good care of your pump is a great habit! We often forget what they go through by being on our bodies 24/7. Keeping your pump in a silicone case can help keep it in tip-top shape. You can even choose from a few different colors to match your style! Brush up on caring for your pump with some easy tips for keeping them their best.
Carb your enthusiasm
Technology has made carb counting much easier, but it never hurts to remember the basics. For instance, how to read a nutrition label or which counts: net carbs or total carbs? Medtronic has plenty of diabetes management resources to help you out!
Hopefully this inspires you with some quick, easy, diabetes-related goals to kick off January. And just think, you can head into the New Year having already met a resolution (and earned some bragging points when others have given up before February)!
